FishSens Technology is pleased to announce that Bassmaster Elite Series angler Brandon Card has joined its pro staff.
For the 2015 season, Card's boat will be equipped with a SondeCAM from a new line of underwater cameras developed and manufactured by Ohio-based FishSens Technology. The cameras interface with directly with Lowrance and other fish finder units to display video on screen.
"I'm really excited to be the only pro on the Elite Series that has this technology," Card said. "To have this underwater camera that can plug directly into my Lowrance, that gives me one more step above the the rest of the field."
As a member of the Pro Staff, Card will also contribute informative articles on his bass fishing techniques, tips and tricks to FishSens Magazine online. He'll join the FishSens team at their booth at the 2015 Bassmaster Classic Outdoors Expo from Feb. 20-22 at the TD Convention Center in Greenville, South Carolina. The Expo runs in conjunction with the Bassmaster Classic tournament on Lake Hartwell.
Card, the 2012 Bassmaster Rookie of the Year, says the SondeCAM will be especially useful for offshore fishing where anglers rely almost exclusively on their electronics. He's been successful in reading his Lowarance to locate schools of fish, and the SondeCAM will help make sure those schools are made up of the species and size that he needs on tournament days.
"That will take the guesswork out of it," he said. "I'll fish more confidently when I know that I'm fishing bass and not a school of white bass or walleye or something else."
FishSens Technology's family of underwater cameras includes the SondeCAM, the SondeCAM WQ and the SondeCAM mini — all built in the company's state-of-the-art marine fabrication lab in Fairborn, Ohio.
"It's great to have Brandon on board," said Trevin Fondriest, SondeCAM product manager. "He's a true professional who really understands how to read his electronics and can use the camera to its full potential."
Each SondeCAM model houses a low-lux Sony image sensor that captures fish, structure and habitat in full color through an impact- and scratch-resistant lens. The mini offers similar functionality as the flagship SondCAM at a lower resolution, footprint and price point. The WQ supports optional water quality sensors that layer pH, temperature or dissolved oxygen measurements over the video display.
Designed to provide years of service, the SondeCAM is protected by front and rear bumpers and a marine-grade anodized aluminum body that is rated for depths up to 100 meters. The camera cable incorporates high-flex coax, power and signal conductors, abrasion-resistant polyurethane jacket and an internal Kevlar strength member. A topside quick-connect makes the SondeCAM easy to deploy and stow.
